Award Distribution Ceremony of 2018 AUW Inter-House Sports Competition

On 11 March 2018, AUW held the awards show for the 2018 AUW Inter-House Sports Competition. The competition was held on February 2, 3, 9, and 10. The awards were given by Professor AKM Mollah and AA Instructor John Stanlake, both active sportsmen, who recognize the importance of integrating sports in students’ lives at AUW. 

There were three team games, each won by a different House. Basketball was won by Joy, Volleyball by Justice, and Football by Courage. The cheerleading competition was won by Wisdom. There were also awards for the fourteen individual competitions, and the winners of each were: 

Table Tennis: Choney Dema (Imagination)

Chess: Mahreen Mustafa (Joy) 

Carom: Tshering Yangdon (Truth)

Karate (Kata): Tharuka Nilakshi (Justice)

Karate (Kumite-50Kg): Naw Paw Ka Lu Taw (Truth)

Karate (Kumite-50+Kg): Chit Cu (Courage)

Karate (Kumite 56+ Kg): Sangay Choezom (Wisdom)

Badminton, Singles: Azra Jawaid (Joy)

Badminton, Doubles: Vishmi and Maha (Truth)

Long Jump: Samiksha Thapa (Service)

Shot Put: Sharifa 

100 m Race: Nafisa Islam (Joy)
200 m Race: Aaml (Justice)
400 m Race: Samiksha Thapa (Service)

Volunteers at the sports meet were also given certificates of appreciation acknowledging their hard work. Members of the AUW Sports Committee were presented with an Appreciation Award for contributing tn the success of the meet. 

The Best Sports House Award of 2018 went to Wisdom House, which won 13 awards in total.
